[“According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the health authorities in Germany have reported 955 new corona infections within one day. Thus, the daily case numbers remain at a high level. Since the beginning of the corona crisis, at least 209,653 people in Germany have been demonstrably infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus, as the RKI announced (data status 1.8., 0 o’clock). “]

On Friday the number of new infections registered daily was 870. Due to the increasing number of cases, the RKI fears a trend reversal in Germany. A few days ago, RKI President Lothar Wieler said that the reason for this was negligence in adhering to the rules of conduct.

According to RKI, the number of deaths in connection with corona infection is 9,148. 192,700 people had survived the infection by Saturday morning according to RKI estimates.

According to RKI estimates, the reproduction figure, or R-value for short, was 1.06 in Germany (previous day: 1.02) with data status 31.7. This means that on average, one infected person infects about another person. The R-value reflects the course of infection about one and a half weeks before.

[“The RKI also specifies a so-called seven-day R. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value stood at 1.19 (previous day: 1.17) with data as of 31 July, 0 o’clock. It shows the course of infection from 8 to 16 days ago.”]

ZEIT ONLINE also collects the data, but unlike the RKI, it collects data directly from the city and county districts. The data may therefore vary.
